Can I even begin to express how much I hate our neighbor's trees? Not even a little. They are the worst trees to plant near a fence line, unless you just want to tick off everyone nearby. Unfortunately for us, they lean into our yard more than their own and the leaves, seed pods, and flowers dirty our pool and destroy our pool filters. Each year Paul risks his life and "limb" to climb up and hack off everything that hangs onto our side. They are fast growing trees so it gets more dangerous each year.
I didn't get a picture of Paul in the trees, but here is the result of his labors.

Usually, I'm the one who removes all the debris, but this year we did it together. It was much faster. First we cut it up and moved it to the side yard so it wouldn't kill the grass.
Then a few days later, I had to move it again for bulk trash day.

Here is just a tiny section of the leaves left that I still had to clean up with the blower/vac.

All in all, it took at least 5 hours to do all that and I still have more leaves in and around the pool to clean up. Multiply this times every year, times every wind storm. It is such a pain.

Most impressive is the picture of spencer by the pile. Kind of sucks, huh?
Ah country living is where you need to be!
Your neighbor must be pretty dense.
laura...pour muriatic acid on the tree...should kill it...i've been doing it the one behind our fence!!!! I HATE that tree too!!!
Trea
We have a problem with our neighbors' big palm trees...Their flowers are really messy... We were so careful choosing OUR landscaping...???
That's awful! Are they even aware of it? Have they lived there for a while?
Maybe you could wait until they go out of town or move and take care of it. ;)
Bada bing, bada boom!
That was me, not Megan. ;)
She would probably find a more Christlike way.
My redbud tree does the same thing to my deck and I hate it! Dad has more sympathy for you than for my complaints. He "loves" that redbud tree! But it sheds petals, seed pods, and finally, leaves. And they get into the cracks between the boards and all over the furniture, and the bees scare the grandkids!!!!! Help me, someone!
Well my goodness, I guess I will have to say a few words in defense of the redbud tree.
Yes like all living things it does create a few messes. But on a scale of 1 to 10 this tree must rate only a 1 or 2. We don't have a pool for it to contaminate, it sheds less than two bushels of leaves a year, the grandkids have never been stung by any of the bees that visit the blossoms that last only about two weeks out of 52 weeks in a year, it's not as if your Mom spends a lot of time sweeping leaves, seeds or fallen flowers, and so far our tom-boy granddaughter has not fallen out of the tree.
In support of the lovely little tree, I love the fact that it is one of the first harbingers of spring with its small red blooms, it provides a cooling shade in the afternoons, not only for the deck but also my bedroom, it is greencentric in a time when we need to conserve energy and being deciduous it promply sheds its leaf cover with the arrival of cold weather which allows the winter sun to warm that same bedroom. Ah, the efficiency of nature.
Since I claim the honor of perching in, on, under, this tree with a greater frequency than any member of out extended family I claim eminent domain. AMEN
