Can You Believe It?

Can you believe that I dared to enter a triathlon? Well, I did and I completed it, too! It was a sprint triathlon put on by the Kiwanis Club and Litchfield Park. We swam 300 yards, biked 8.4 miles, and ran 2 miles. I've only been training for it for a couple of months so I wasn't expecting too much from myself. I'm just happy that I did it! It was so hard, but I actually liked it. I might just have to keep exercising and try another one in the future.

Happy Birthday Lily!

Lily turned 9 yesterday! Every year we are amazed that we've all made it this far. With a lot of work and zillions of kisses Lily is thriving and happy. Although she is never very happy on big events like Christmas, birthdays, etc.. She was kind of grumpy about turning 9, I guess. Her teacher claims that Lily loves the number 8 and recognizes it out of a line up. Maybe she just didn't want to give it up. It was her birthday and she could cry if she wanted to.

Spencer and I made cupcakes to take to her class. Her teacher said she was grumpy most of the day. Then after school we went swimming, but a wind storm blew in and it was really cold, so we although we were having fun we cut it short. Then we went home for a bath, dinner and cake. She only liked the bath. She didn't want anything to do with the food. She was all smiles again when I put her to bed. She was glad the day was over. Some people just don't like to get older.

Easter Celebrations

We had a nice Easter this year.
On Saturday we had a party at the church.
Then we went home and dyed eggs. After church on Sunday the kids enjoyed the hunt for their Easter baskets.
Spencer had so much fun hunting over and over again for eggs in the back yard. He wants to do it every day. Many, many times.

Student of the Month

Lily was awarded the title of Student of the Month for her class in March. She got a certificate and a trophy, a ticket to a Diamondbacks' game, and a donut with milk. She is a hard worker and a good student. We are proud of all her efforts.

Here she is with her principal. I know she looks like a teenager, but she really is the principal.

Plant of the Week. part 1

STRAWBERRIES!! All our plants are producing pretty well, but this week we are most excited about the strawberries. I took this picture about a week ago and then yesterday we picked a couple and savored the moment. The girls are out of focus. I was holding Lily and trying to catch the moment they tasted it, but I kind of missed it.

It's about time!

Guess what Spencer did yesterday.

He hates to get his haircut, but with bribery and SpongeBob on the TV, we managed to get it done. Actually, he did a great job! They have a very strong air blower that both scared him and made him laugh.
Oh you probably noticed his black eye. He fell down at a friend's house.
